  Hotbar full, I removed 2 items back into inventory. Filled one space with consumable, consumed it, and the items I removed from those two spaces came back to the hotbar automatically. Reproduced multiple times.

  I believe it could be a good addition to possibly add an option/setting that makes it so items will go to your backpack/inventory first and not pin themselves to your hotbar automatically.
  For myself personally, I try to keep my hotbar clean with only the essentials and like to put certain things in certain slots and I don't like it getting randomly filled up with items I pick up if I can help it.

  found out it is not only when consuming, it happens when rearranging anything in the hotbar.

  When picking up items, they are automatically added to the toolbet. I removed all of the items except for the pickaxe and then consumed a bag of hydrocrisp. Once consumed, the toolbet was filled with the top row of items in my inventory again without me making any modifications.
