When you are in the ESC menu, the time still keeps running.

  I would really like the esc menu to pause as well. I frequently have to pause to stretch my hands, or deal with health stuff. Other people may need to pause for family reasons, or to let out the dog or answer a call. It's really hard if there is no actual pause option in the game other than just full on quitting. Obviously if you're playing multiplayer then esc shouldn't pause the game as others are still going, but in single player there is no real reason not to have a pause menu. Especially considering the hunger and thirst mechanics just running in the background that could kill you without realising it.

  Perhaps in multiplayer when hitting esc, you could become a ghost (cant take damage, hunger and thirst doesn't go down), but it'd probably need some balancing like falling a great distance and just hitting esc shouldn't save you.
